Naxdom: Frequently Asked Questions Answered

Naxdom

Naxdom is a combination drug consisting of Naproxen sodium and Domperidone. It is most commonly used for the prevention of migraine attacks. The drug acts by the anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic action of naproxen sodium (belong to the class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), by inhibiting the release of a chemical called prostaglandin. In contrast, the combination drug domperidone acts by blocking certain dopamine receptors in the gut and the brain’s chemoreceptor zone, thereby producing antiemetic and prokinetic action ( increasing gastric motility and early emptying of the stomach).

Naxdom is available as oral tablets at a dosage of 500mg or 250 mg of Naproxen sodium and 10 mg domperidone. The drug is most commonly given as a single morning dose.
